Aimed at all broadcasters who would like to use and develop the Irish language content on their shows, from the cúpla focal to a full conversation on-air, Cogar aims to support broadcasters by providing news stories with an Irish language slant and direct access to the sources and contacts behind the news.
Cogar is a joint project between Comhdháil Náisiúnta na Gaeilge and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland. What started out as an monthly e-zine for radio broadcasters working in the independent broadcasting sector has now expanded to a full information service and networking resource for Irish language broadcasters.
The website of the information service was officially launched at Oireachtas na Gaeilge in Letterkenny in 2009. The website is updated regularly with news from the sector and is the platform for the monthly newsletter.
Cogar is on Facebook now as well! Like Coger here and give us the low down on the latest news about your radio show or series.
For further information on the initiative check out the website www.cogar.ie or contact Niamh Ní Shúilleabháin in Comhdháil Náisiúnta na Gaeilge by emailing niamh@gaelport.com or by calling the office on 353 (0)1 6794780.
Some of the older editions of the e-zine are available below but check out the archive on www.cogar.ie to read the latest edition!
