New online course to assist in learning of Irish

A new online course that assists students in improving their standard of spoken Irish was  launched last week. Secondary School students will find ‘Abair Leat’ of benefit to them and plays a major part in State examinations.

The Co-ordinator of the course, Carmel Nic Eoin believes that ‘Abair leat’ will also prove beneficial to others who wish to improve their spoken Irish.Carmel Nic Eoin who is the National Co-ordinator of Secondary School Level support services of Irish said the online course will be in use in all schools in the State within the coming school year.

She believes that this new online facility will help with teacher’s work within the classroom as well as facilitate independent learning through creative activity and self assessment opportunities provide for learners.

Nic Eoin believes the online course will increase students ability to speak Irish as well as helping to preserve the language.

Comedian Des Bishop will be visiting many schools around the country in order to create awareness to this new resource.
