Gaelport.com wins an Irish Web Award

Comhdháil Náisiúnta na Gaeilge is delighted to announce that the website www.gaelport.com won an Irish Web Award in the Suíomh Gaeilge is Fearr category last night.
Gaelport.com faced stiff competition with other sites in the category including: beo.ie; antoireachtas.ie; coislife; gaeilge.ie; gaelsceal.ie and focal.ie.

Among the information services provided by Gaelport.com, each day, articles relating to the Irish language sector which appear in the Irish national and regional papers are distributed to those registered for the service.

News and events from the Irish language sector are updated daily, and the most recent stories are available on the Gaelport.com homepage, or alternatively as an RSS Feed.  A calendar of events is also available on the site, with details of all events being held in the coming weeks. Current vacancies in the Irish language sector are advertised under the employment section.  An Chomhdháil distributes a bilingual electronic newsletter, EOLAS, every fortnight, which contains major news stories, events, vacancies, training courses, publications and information relating to other minority languages.

Kevin De Barra, Marketing and Communications Manager of Comhdháil Náisiúnta na Gaeilge said: “the entire staff of Comhdháil Náisiúnta na Gaeilge are delighted at winning this award.  Such recognition for the amount of work which has been put into the Gaelport.com website gives us great inspiration to keep providing the best possible service we can.  It is wonderful that such a demand exists for the information services provided by An Chomhdháil, and that Gaelport.com has been recognised at the biggest internet awards in the country”.

Further information about the Irish Web Awards is available at www.webawards.ie.
