Irish cultural festival visits Club Chonradh na Gaeilge

A new series of gigs organised by Irish language literary festival IMRAM is set to commence this Friday, May 11th at Club Conradh na Gaeilge, 6 Harcourt Street in Dublin 2. 

Running for three Fridays in a row, these gigs will offer the best of Irish culture from well-known artists such as the creative fiddler from ‘The Frames’, Colm Mac an Iomaire, guitar virtuoso Steve Cooney, famous poet Biddy Jenkinson and accordion legend, Tony Mac Mahon.

Gearóid Mac Lochlainn, Caoimhín Mac Giolla Catháin, Biddy Jenkinson and Máire Ní Choilm will start off the first night tomorrow, Friday 11 May 2012 at 8.30 pm.

Biddy Jenkinson is well known among Irish speakers as one of the great poets of her generation, Oíche Bhealtaine being her latest publication. Joining her will be Máire Ní Choilm, a well respected sean-nós singer from Mín an Iolair, Doire Beaga, Donegal, who swooped the grand prize at Comórtas na mBan at Oireachtas na Gaeilge 2009. Criss-Cross. Mo Chara (CIC) is the latest publication from Belfast-born writer Gearóid Mac Lochlain who will also be reading on the night along with Caoimhín Mac Giolla Catháin, lead singer from the Irish language reggae band Bréag.

On 18 May Dairena Ní Chinnéide, Stiofán Ó Cadhla, Séamas Barra Ó Súilleabháin and Tony Mac Mahon and Steve Cooney will perform on another special night of music, poetry and song.

The week after on 15 May Club Chonradh na Gaeilge will welcome Colm Mac Con Iomaire, Míchéal Ó hUanacháin, Antaine Ó Donnaile agus Doireann Ní Ghríofa for more entertainment.
