Glór na nGael’s Third level Competition Shortlist announced

Third level Irish language societies from all over the country were recognised today with the announcement of Glór na nGael’s ‘Comórtas na n-Institiúidí Tríú Leibhéal’.


Glór na nGael started this competition in 2006 with the intention of providing a platform for the great work third level Irish Language societies do for the promotion of the language countrywide.

Societies are judged on the following guidelines: the way in which the Society raises the profile of Irish in the institute; the cooperation between the society and the college authorities and the opportunities created by the society for the staff and students at the institute.

A prize of €2,000 will be presented to the society in first place, €1,500 for second place and €1,000 for third place. There are also Cross-border, Reconciliation prizes along with a prize for the best society with less than 200 members and a prize for best new entry.

The following societies have been shortlisted for these awards:

An Cumann Sóisialta Acadamh na hOllscolaíochta Gaeilge

An Chuallacht UCC

Cuallacht Na Gaeilge Maynooth

An Cumann Gaelach UCD

An Cumann Gaelach, QUB

Cumann Gaelach DIT

An Cumann Gaelach, TCD

Glór na nGael’s award ceremony will be held at Clontarf Castle20 April.
