Irish summer course at Coláiste Gaeilge na Gaillimhe

Coláiste na Gaeilge has announced details of its summer course for 2014 which will take place in Galway, Oughterard, and Clifden.

Classes will consist of oral language, reading, pictures and role play, grammar (gramadach na Gaeilge), vocabulary, reading comprehension and aural comprehension.

All students will be given sample answers to prose and poetry exam questions, six sample essays, sample answers to comprehension exam questions. In the classed the emphasis will be on the following.

The oral exam: In the Leaving Cert Irish the oral exam accounts for 40 per cent of the marks.
The aural exam: Listening skills will be taught and students will be encouraged to develop their own listening skills and strategies. Since aural preparation is language input it will benefit students’ oral comprehension competency.
Grammar: Grammar knowledge will enable students to speak and write with accuracy, thus giving them a chance to achieve the highest possible grade in their exam.
Reading comprehension: Reading is language input, increasing students’ competency in not only language comprehension but also in vocabulary and sentence building, speaking, and writing the language.

Classes will run from 10am to 3pm and students are supervised at all times. For further information contact Máire Uí Chonghaile 091 558870 / 087 134 9929 or email mairenichon@hotmail.com
