Eagrán / Edition 10 - 12 02 2008

Is é buaiteoir an ghradaim ná...

And the Award goes to.....

Is léir go bhfuil séasúr na gradam buailte linn arís le searmanas bronnta gradam ar siúl ar an teilifís gach seachtain. Tionóladh na BAFTA's an deireadh seachtaine seo caite, reáchtálfar The Meteor Ireland Music Awards ar an 15 Feabhra agus beidh na Irish Film and Television Awards ar siúl an Domhnach seo chugainn san Amharclann Gaiety i mBaile Átha Cliath.

Cuirfidh an fuirseoir Dara Ó Briain na Meteors i láthair agus tá sé geallta ag tionscnóirí na hócáide go mbeidh scoth na gceoltóirí agus réaltaí móra ceoil i láthair agus ag seinm an oíche úd.

I measc na ngradam eile bronnfar ceann ar an mbanna ceoil is fearr, an t-amhránaí fireann Éireannach is fearr, an t-amhránaí ban Éireannach is fearr agus ar an albam Éireannach is fearr.

Ach níl dearmad déanta ach oiread ar mhórghníomh na gcraoltóirí ach oiread.  Bronnfar gradam ar an DJ Raidió is fearr ar bhonn náisiúnta agus ar bhonn áitiúil.  Roghnóidh an pobal i gcoitinne na buaiteoirí agus tá ionadaíocht mhaith ann ó na stáisiúin neamhspleácha, tá Ray Foley, Ray Darcy agus Ian Dempsey agus Tom Dunne ó Today FM ainmnithe don DJ Raidió is fearr ar bhonn náisiúnta. Tá DJ ó Shannonside, Red FM, Beat 102.103, Spin 103FM, FM 104 agus Galway Bay FM ainmnithe don DJ Raidió is fearr ar bhonn áitiúil.

Beidh spéis ag lucht na Gaeilge sna Gradaim Theilifíse agus Scannán (IFTA) a bheidh ar siúl ar an Domhnach.  Tá cur chuige difriúil ag na IFTA's toisc go roghnaíonn an pobal i coitinne Pearsa na Bliana agus roghnaíonn an tAcadamh buaiteoirí na ngradam eile.

I measc na réaltaí móra teilifíse atá ainmnithe do Phearsa teilifíse na bliana, tá Síle Ní Bhraonáin ó TG4.  Dúirt Síle "go raibh áthas an domhain orm bheith ainmnithe mar phearsa teilifíse na bliana. Ó  thosaigh mé le TG4 tugadh go leor deiseanna domsa mo thaithí chraoltóireachta a leathnú agus bhí gliondar orm nuair a bronnadh mo sheó féin orm sa bhliain 2005, dar teideal Síle, ina bhfuil rogha leathan clár do dhaoine óga"

Tá Gaeilgeoirí ainmnithe do na gradaim theilifíse agus scannánaíochta . Ar ndóigh, tá Kings, an scannán dátheangach a bhfuil clú mór bainte amach aige faoin am seo ainmnithe don Ghradam don Scannán is Fearr.  Beidh stiúrthóir an scannáin, Tom Collins, ag dul san iomaíocht le Robert Quinn, Stiúrthóir Chré na Cille do ghradam an Stiúrthóra is Fearr.

It's clear that the awards season is now upon is when there is an awards ceremony on the television every week.  The BAFTAS were held last weekend, the Meteor Ireland music awards will be held on the 15th of February and the Irish Film and Television Awards will take place next Sunday in the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin.

The Meteors will be presented by the comedian, Dara Ó Briain and they say that the best musicians and performers will be in attendance and playing that very night.

Amongst the awards that will be given out that night are the best Band, the Best Irish male, Best Irish female and Best Irish album.

However they haven't forgotten about the great achievements of broadcasters either.  An award will be given to the best national DJ and best local DJ.  The general public will pick the winners and the independent stations have represented themselves well with Ray Foley, Ray D'Arcy, Ian Demspey, Tom Dunne nominated for best national DJ.  DJ's from Shannonside, Red FM, Beat 102.103, Spin 103FM, FM 104 and Galway Bay FM have been nominated for Best Local DJ.

The Irish speaking public will have a particular interest in the Irish Film and Television Awards which take place on Sunday.  The IFTAs have a different set up as the general public vote for the television personality of the year and the Academy chooses the winners of the other awards.

Amongst the other big TV stars that have been nominated for the Television Personality of the year is Síle Ní Bhraonáin from TG4.  Síle stated "I was absolutely delighted to be nominated for Television Personality of the Year. Since starting in TG4 I've been given many opportunities to broaden my presenting experience and I was thrilled to be given my own show called Síle which has a vast and exciting array of programmes for young adults".

Irish speakers have also been nominated for television and film awards.  Kings, the bilingual film which has earned much acclaim by now has been nominated for Best Film.  The director of the film Tom Collins will be up against Robert Quinn, the director of Cré na Cille for the award of Best Director.

Seo ábhar machnaimh do mhí Feabhra - some ideas for February

Beidh Lá Fhéile Vailintín ann ar an 14 Feabhra
Valentines Day will be on 14 February

Tá grá san aer -  Love is in the air
Bígí rómánsúil  -  be romantic
An Grá            -  love
Spéirbhean      -  Beautiful woman
Bláthanna        -   flowers
Croí                 - heart

Níl leigheas ar an ngrá ach an pósadh -
There is no cure for love but marriage.

Ceileann searc ainimh is locht
Love hides blemishes and faults.

Giorraíonn beirt bóthar
Two shorten the road

An turas is faide sa saol tosaíonn sé le coiscéim bheag amháin
The longest journey in life starts with one small step.

Is beag is fiú éadan álainn gan ceann céillí
A beautiful face is worth little without a sensible head

Pós bean oileáin agus pósfaidh tú an t-oileán uile
Marry an island woman and you marry the whole island

Rónán Mac Aodha Bhuí

Rónán Mac Aodha Bhuí

Cad is ainm duitse agus cárb as tú agus cé leis a bhfuil tú ag craoladh?

Rónán Mac Aodha Bhuí as Cois Cláidí i nGaoth Dobhair- RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta.

Cé chomh fada is atá tú ag craoladh i nGaeilge?

Fiche bliain. Thosaigh mé le cúpla stáisiún bradach i 1988, DCR i dTír Chonaill, agus NDCR i mBaile Átha Cliath, agus ansin fuair mé deis oibriú le Raidió na Gaeltachta mar shaoririseoir.

Céard é an difríocht is mó, dar leat, idir craoladh i nGaeilge agus i mBéarla?

B'fhearr liomsa craoladh i nGaeilge. Rinne mé cláir nuachta i mBéarla ar Century radio, agus rinne mé obair chraoltóireachta i mBéarla le Radio One agus BBC Scotland, ach bhí mé níos compordaí  ag craoladh i mo theanga féin.

Cé hé nó hí an t-aoi is mó a bhfuil fonn ort agallamh a chur air nó uirthi i nGaeilge?

Tá agallamh curtha agam ar chuid mhór Gael le fiche bliain anuas agus tá mé ag cuardach daoine suimiúla le hagallamh a chur orthu.

Céard é an clár raidió is fearr leatsa?

Tá barraíocht clár a bhfuil dúil agam iontu agus mar sin ní féidir liom clár amháin a lua. Is maith liom Barrscéalta, Adhmhaidin, Spleodar Ceoil, An Taobh Tuathail agus cuid mhór de chraoladh RnaG, agus is maith liom clár Dhonal Dineen ar Today FM.

Cé hé nó hí an t-aoi is fearr a bhí ar do chlár raidió?

Des Bishop, Séanna Breathnach, Micí Mac Aoidh, Donnchadh Chassie,  Margaret Chití, Mary Aggie, Gearóid Ó Muilleoir, Seán Ó Muireagáin, Alabama 3,Kíla,Bréag,Hyperborea,Pól Mac Ruairí, Feargal Ó Béarra, Donall De Barra, Colm Lynagh, An Scadán Rua, Seamus Ó Fiannghusa.

Céard é an spreagadh is mó duitse agus tú i mbun craolta?

Go bhfuil pobal éisteachta an náisiúin Ghaelaigh, sa Ghaeltacht, sa Ghalltacht, agus ar fud na cruinne, ag éisteacht anois is arís. Ba mhaith liom go mbeimis ag spreagadh na gGael céanna chun a bheith i dteagmháil agus páirteach linn sa chlár.

Cuireann Rónán Mac Aodha Bhuí an clár 'Géill Slí' i láthair ar Anocht FM ar Raidió na Gaeltachta.
Tuilleadh eolais faoi rogha ceoil Rónáin ar fáil anseo

What's your name, where are you from and who are you broadcasting with?

Rónán Mac Aodha Bhuí from Cois Cláidí in Gaoth Dobhair- RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta.

How long are you broadcasting in Irish?

20 years. I started with a pirate station in 1988 in Donegal and NDCR in Dublin and then I got the chance to work with Raidió na Gaeltachta as a journalist.

What is the biggest difference, do you think, between broadcasting in Irish and in English?

I prefer broadcasting in Irish.  I made news programmes in English on Century radio and I did some broadcasting work  in English with Radio One and with BBC Scotland but I was more comfortable broadcasting in my own language.

Who is the guest you would most like to interview in Irish?

I have interviewed many Irish people in the last 20 years and I am always looking for interesting people to interview

What is your favourite radio programme?

I like too many programmes just to single out one in particular. I like Barrscéalta, Adhmhaidin, Spleodar Ceoil, An Taobh Tuathail and a lot of other programmes broadcast on TG4 and I also like Donal Dineen?s programme on Today FM.

Who was the best guest you ever had on your programme?

Des Bishop, Séanna Breathnach, Micí Mac Aoidh, Donnchadh Chassie,  Margaret Chití, Mary Aggie, Gearóid Ó Muilleoir, Seán Ó Muireagáin, Alabama 3,Kíla,Bréag,Hyperborea,Pól Mac Ruairí, Feargal Ó Béarra, Donall De Barra, Colm Lynagh, An Scadán Rua, Seamus Ó Fiannghusa.

What is your greatest inspiration while you are broadcasting?

That the Irish language audience in the Gaeltacht and from English speaking area and around the world are listening every now and then.  I would like it if we could inspire the same Irish speakers to be in contact and participate in the programme.

Rónán presents the programme Géill Slí on Anocht FM on Raidió na Gaeltachta.  Further information about Rónán's choice of music available here
